Not Today is a study I just finished on painting plate armor. I wanted to make it look a bit worn, dented, and scratched, as well as create a style that was somewhat unique. I had fun combining the plate armor, the long-and-somewhat-scale mail plates on his torso, and chainmail.
You can see a bit of the battle that is raging behind him (and quite possibly in front of him, due to that earth that’s being thrown up), but I mostly wanted a solitary figure this time. The epic war scenes will come later, once I’m through with doing all these studies!
I’d love to hear your impressions of this guy in the comments. Is he a good knight or an evil/dark knight?
The title is inspired by the George R.R. Martin quote from A Game of Thrones: “What do we say to the Lord of Death?’ ‘Not today.”
… and also a little bit by the line in Toy Story.
I have plans on putting out a video tutorial in the next week or so on how I painted this on my Youtube channel, so be sure to subscribe here if you're interested: www.youtube.com/channel/UCfDmj…

Either way, apparently I didn't make something right about the proportions there. Thanks for the heads up!
It's really beautiful though
Laughter is always a good thing, even at strange or inappropriate times. Sometimes ESPECIALLY at those times! Thank you for your comment!
And he looks like a neutral knight to me (That's so cheap, right? XD)
But seriously? The way he stands there is more protective than aggressive, so I assume he's a "good" knight. But the way his helmet and axe look like I would've assumed he's an "evil" knight. Now I see it! He's left-handed, that means he's evil XD
I painted him kind of neutrally on purpose just to leave it up to interpretation. There's definitely such things as neutral knights, so that works for me!
Thanks so much
